PMHA is a volunteer-run organization, with no paid staff. Parent volunteers are always needed, and there are many opportunities to get involved with individual teams, or at the association-wide level. Information about these positions, and how to volunteer, is listed below.
Team Level Volunteering
1. Coaches & Assistant Coaches
Position Description: Please visit the Hockey Canada and BC Hockey websites for detailed information.
How to Volunteer: If you would like to be a Coach or Assistant coach, please contact your Divisional Manager for details and instructions.
Certification Requirements: Hockey Canada Coaching Certificate (valid for the level being coached); Respect in Sport for Leaders; Concussion Awareness Training Tool (CATT) Certificate, Criminal Record Check. Click here for more information and registration links.
2. Team Manager
Position Description: A critical role, every PMHA team must have a Team Manager. The Team Manager works closely with coaches and parents to manage all team operations, including the co-ordination of team level volunteers. At the Novice level, Team Managers are also responsible for organizing any exhibition games that may be played during the season. Detailed information is available in PMHA's Team Manager's Guide.
How to Volunteer: At the end of assessments, and only after teams are created, Team Managers are selected by Coaches.

3. Safety Persons
Position Description: Safety People implement effective risk management programs with their own teams, where player safety is the
first priority at all times, both on and off the ice. Detailed information can be found in PMHA's Team Safety Guide.
How to Volunteer: Prior to assessments, please contact your Divisional Manager. After teams have been formed, please speak with your Team Manager. At least one Safety Person must be present at all games, so on each team it's desirable to have more than one person available to fill this role.

4. Team Treasurers
Position Description: While not mandatory, most representative teams have a designated Team Treasurer. At the recreational level, the Treasurer may be a designated volunteer, or the Team Manager may take on this role. The Treasurer is responsible for the the collection and management of team funds, and is responsible for filing a parent-approved team budget with the PMHA Treasurer. How to Volunteer: To volunteer as a Team Treasurer, please speak, with your Team Manager.
Certification Requirements: While no formal certificates are required, PMHA strongly recommends that Treasurers have Respect in Sport certification, and a valid Criminal Record Check. Click here for more information and registration links.
5. Scorekeepers and Timekeepers
Position Description: Volunteer Scorekeepers and Timekeepers are needed for every home game. Timekeepers manage the clock, and Scorekeepers are responsible for the score sheet and the related VIAHA game report. Bonus: volunteering for these positions is the best - and only - way to get an ice-level "box seat".
to Volunteer: Please contact your Team Manager to volunteer for these positions. PMHA recommends that Team Managers utilize PMHA's Team Snap Premium Features for co-ordinating specific dates and shifts. In cases when no volunteers have come forward, Team Managers have the authority to assign these roles to parents.
Certification Requirements: None required.
6. Music
Position Description: Get your groove on, and be the DJ you always wanted to be and play music at intermissions and stoppages in play for team home games.
How to Volunteer: Please contact your Team Manager to volunteer for DJ duty. PMHA recommends that Team Managers utilize PMHA's Team Snap Premium features for co-ordinating specific dates and shifts.
Certification Requirements: None required.
Association Level Volunteering
1. Social Committee
Position Description: PMHA Social Committee members organize "Eagle Spirit" each year as well as a fundraiser to help fund those events.
How to Volunteer: To volunteer for the Social Committee, please send an email to Secretary@pmha.bc.ca, and an Association representative will contact you with additional details.
Certification Requirements: None required.
2. Divisional Managers
Position Description: Divisional Manager have general responsibility for organizing and coordinating teams in their Divisions, which includes the co-ordination of assessments. They ensure that Coaches, Team Managers, and other volunteers are aware of Association policies, and they make sure that policies are followed. As Officers of the Association, Divisional Managers may attend and participate in PMHA Executive / Board meetings, but they cannot vote. Details on the position can be gained by reading the Divisional Manager Guides found on the Division & Team Manager Page.
How to Volunteer: Divisional Managers are appointed for one-year terms by the PMHA Executive / Board of Directors. These appointments are typically made late in the Spring. If you are interested in serving in this role, please send an email to Secretary@pmha.bc.ca.

3. Board of Directors
Position Description: As an incorporated not-for-profit Society, PMHA is governed by a Board of Directors (commonly called the Executive). Directors serve for one or two year terms, and each Director has responsibility for one or more portfolios. Basic responsibilities for each position are described in the Association's bylaws.
How to Volunteer: In accordance with our bylaws, Directors are elected by members fo the Association at PMHA's Annual General Meeting in April. Information about the meeting, and the nomination process, is posted on the PMHA website and is circulated to all PMHA members near the end of every hockey season.
