ABOUT TRAVELING SOCCER
The Northfield Soccer Club offers traveling teams at U10-U18 for both boys and girls, at various levels of play appropriate for each particular age group. The Northfield Soccer Club is part of the Southern Minnesota Soccer League, and our teams travel and host teams from other SMSL clubs. We offer summer (U10 - U18) and fall (U10 - U14) traveling seasons.
2024 SPRING/SUMMER TRAVELING SEASON - Registration is CLOSED

The spring/summer 2024 season begins in April and runs through mid-July. Training nights and game dates vary by team and will be determined after your player is placed on a roster. Teams typically practice 2-3 times per week, and play one game per week along with occasional tournaments.
TRAVELING FEES
The 2024 traveling season is open to players born in 2015 or earlier. Fees differ by age:
U10 (2014-2015 birth years) and U12 (2012-2013 birth years): $475
U13 and older (2011-2006 birth years): $500
Traveling fees may be paid in full or in three installments, with one-third of the payment due at the time of registration, one-third due on January 31, 2024, and the remaining balance due on March 31, 2024. You will select your preferred payment schedule at the time of registration.
Scholarships are available. Please contact Tammy Seymour at admin@northfieldsoccer.org to learn more or request a scholarship. Scholarship recipients do not have to make any co-payments at the time of registration.
UNIFORMS
The Northfield Soccer Club is transitioning to a new uniform kit for the 2024 season. Costs and information about ordering will be shared in early 2024.
TEAM FORMATION
Teams will be formed immediately after registration closes, with age groups for team formation determined by the January-December calendar birth year based on standards set forth by the United States Soccer Federation. The Northfield Soccer Club conducts tryouts for all registered players in any age group where it is required for the purposes of forming traveling teams for the SMSL summer and fall seasons. TRYOUTS - April 7, 2024
Each season upon registration closing, Northfield Soccer Club evaluates team formation and, in the cases where there are ample numbers or the potential for more than one team, engages in a process to place players. This requires a tryout to properly form the rosters in the most unbiased way. For the 2024 spring/summer season, this session will take place next Sunday, April 7th at the Dundas Dome. The impacted age groups are listed below as well as their tryout times. Any group not listed does not require an assessment.
Session 1: 7:00 - 8:30 pm
U12 Boys: 2012 & 2013 birth years
U12 Girls: 2012 & 2013 birth years
Session 2: 8:30 - 10:00 pm
U14 Boys: 2010 & 2011 birth years
U16 Boys: 2008 & 2009 birth years
SERVICE REQUIREMENT
Northfield Soccer Club is an almost entirely volunteer-run organization, and the time and talents of many individuals is vital to maintain day-to-day operations. As such, we will again require a minimum of 4 service hours per family per summer season. The fee to opt out of the service requirement will be $200 and is in line with other youth sports organizations in Northfield. This can be paid at the time of registration. We will be following up with opportunities to satisfy the service requirement, but we are always in need of team coaches and managers, as well as board members.
